Heather Harris has been a certified family nurse practitioner since 2012 and a registered nurse since 1993. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Montana State University, masters in family nurse practitioner degree from the University of North Georgia, and doctor of nursing practice degree at Georgia College and State University.
Ms. Harris has a special interest in pediatrics and family primary care medicine. She enjoys treating a variety of chronic and acute medical conditions in all age groups. She values building relationships with her patients and their families. She is also a faculty member in the Department of Nursing at the University of North Georgia, where she educates graduate and undergraduate nursing students in the art of nursing.
Ms. Harris has a passion for medical missions, both nationally and internationally. Weekly, she volunteers her services providing medical care to refugee and immigrant patients at a free clinic in Clarkston, Georgia. She also coordinates a yearly medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic, caring for underserved Haitian immigrants.
Ms. Harris is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia.
Ms. Harris lives in suburban Atlanta with her family. She enjoys spending time with her husband, an electrical engineer, her daughter, a junior at the University of North Georgia majoring in middle school education, and her son, a high school student with an interest in engineering and robotics.
